The purpose of this blog is to open a dialogue among friends about our faith(s). My hope is that this will help us understand each other better and be edified together. While I am not opposed to confronting our beliefs and understanding of doctrine, I think the main purpose of this blog should be to share rather than to confront or to convince. May that sharing strengthen our friendship, enlighten our minds and bring us each closer to God.

Everyday Religious Symbols
A scripture in the Book of Mormon states, "all things which have been given of God from the beginning of the world, unto man, are the typifying of him [Jesus Christ]" (2 Nephi 11:4). Another scripture says, "all things denote there is a God; yea, even the earth, and all things that are upon the face of it, yea, and its motion, yea, and also all the planets which move in their regular form do witness that there is a Supreme Creator" (Alma 30:44). Do you agree that all things are types/symbols/denotations of God? Whether you do or don't, what things remind you of Christ or give you a point of reference for understanding him?

I don't know what it's like where you all live, but here warm weather has finally arrived. Today was about 70 degrees and I'm sure tonight will be absolutely gorgeous. Every spring is miraculous--even though it happens every year, I'm always amazed at the stunningly yellow forsythias and the soft pink pedals of the dogwood trees. Isn't it appropriate that Easter coincides with the rebirth and flowering of nature? I think of Romans 6:4 which says, "Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life." Just as Christ burst from His tomb, and just as Spring blossoms out of Winter, we can walk in newness of life, and live in a perpetual spring.
